There aren’t many football brands where you can look at a completely new shirt and have a pretty good idea who made it before finding the manufacturer’s logo.
Ezeta might be one of them.
Their latest collection for Sorrento Calcio is another example of a style that has become unmistakably their own, mixing illustration, mythology, history and location in a way few other manufacturers attempt.
This time, it’s the alluring call of the sea.
Inspired by the legendary Sirens of Greek mythology, Parthenope, Leucosia and Ligea, Ezeta have turned to the ancient stories surrounding the Sorrentine Peninsula for Sorrento’s new collection.
Three Sirens. Three colours. One legend.
Rather than treating each shirt as an entirely separate creation, one central piece of artwork carries across all three. The changing colours then give each its own character while keeping the collection visually connected.
And what artwork it is.
Scales from the Sirens’ tails combine with the sailing sea behind them, creating something that initially resembles shifting stripes running through the shirts. Look closer and the illustration begins to reveal itself.
It’s almost appropriate.
You’re drawn towards what looks like one thing before discovering something entirely different hiding within it.
You’ve been lured in.
The centralised badges sit amongst the artwork rather than fighting against it, allowing the illustration to dominate all three shirts.
The launch carries the story further.
Against the backdrop of Sorrento, the three Sirens return to the modern world, moving through the streets before ultimately being called back towards the sea.
It’s mythology, place and football all rolled into one collection.
That’s also what makes Ezeta such an interesting manufacturer. Their shirts rarely feel as though they could simply have another club badge placed on them. There’s a particular illustrative style and level of storytelling that has become incredibly easy to associate with the brand.
