Some kits tell a story through their colours. Others manage to take a genuine piece of local history and weave it directly into the design.
Ternana Women have done exactly that.
Their new kit pays tribute to the Jutificio Centurini, the former jute factory that became an important part of Terni’s industrial history and the story of the many women who worked there. The centurinare played a significant role within the city’s textile industry and the wider story of female emancipation in the region.
It’s a fitting inspiration for Ternana Women, and the design makes that connection immediately visible.
The familiar green and red remain at the heart of the shirt, although the particularly rich tones give the colours a slightly more refined feel. Running across the fabric is a bespoke jute-inspired pattern, creating a direct link to the material and the women whose work shaped this part of Terni’s history.
The gold detailing adds another layer of distinction, picking up beautifully alongside the club badge and giving the whole thing a slightly more prestigious feel.
There are personal tributes woven into it too. A dedication to former coach Fabio Melillo appears on the front, while “Eternal Moments” sits around the neckline, adding another emotional layer to a shirt already carrying plenty of meaning.
The result is an interesting balance. The traditional stripes get a contemporary treatment, while the texture running across them carries a very specific piece of history.
