Some kits reveal everything at first glance.

This isn’t one of them.

The Borough FC’s latest collaboration with Toronto Zoo is a shirt that encourages you to keep looking, with new details appearing the longer your eyes spend wandering through the dense foliage.

Dubbed a “Soccer Safari”, the design is the result of a partnership months in the making and leans heavily into themes of exploration, nature and discovery. Toronto’s signature green dominates the shirt, creating a lush backdrop for a design that feels more like a hidden ecosystem than a traditional football kit.

The question is: how many animals can you find?

Look closely and you’ll spot a gorilla tucked amongst the leaves. Keep searching and a panda emerges. There are plenty more details hidden throughout, rewarding those willing to spend a little longer studying the shirt rather than simply scrolling past it.

Designed by @jsnjaydesign, the concept walks an interesting line. Some supporters will enjoy the treasure-hunt aspect of uncovering hidden elements and the storytelling that comes with it. Others may feel the sheer amount of detail pushes the shirt towards being more artwork than football kit.

That’s probably the most interesting debate here.

How much is too much when it comes to themed designs?

For a collaboration with a zoo, perhaps subtlety was never really the goal. The Borough and Toronto Zoo have clearly embraced the idea fully and delivered something that stands apart from almost anything else being worn across the Ontario Premier League this season.

Whether you’d wear it every week is one question.

Whether you’ll keep spotting new details every time you look at it is another.
