A Taste of Senegal 🇸🇳
Some football partnerships go far beyond player development.
Few illustrate that better than the relationship between FC Metz and Senegalese academy side Génération Foot.

Over the years, the Dakar-based academy has become one of African football’s great talent factories, helping launch the careers of players such as Sadio Mané and Ismaïla Sarr before they made their names in Europe. Its connection with Metz has only strengthened with time and now forms a significant part of the French club’s identity and sporting structure.
For their latest third kit, Metz have chosen to celebrate that relationship in a different way.
Rather than focusing on the players themselves, the club turns to Senegalese culture and design, drawing inspiration from traditional textiles and patterns that have been woven into the fabric of the shirt.

The deep, almost black khaki base gives those patterns room to breathe, creating a canvas that feels both understated and rich in detail. Gold accents lift the design further, while the dark red touches ensure the club’s traditional colours remain part of the story.

It’s a shirt that carries plenty of personality.
The obvious talking point, however, may be the front of the jersey. There are sponsors everywhere, and some supporters will inevitably feel the commercial elements interrupt an otherwise striking design.

Others might argue the pattern remains strong enough to shine through regardless.
That’s perhaps the interesting debate here.
How much sponsorship is too much before it begins to detract from a kit’s story?
Because there is a story worth telling here.

This isn’t simply an eye-catching third shirt. It’s a nod to a partnership that has shaped both clubs for decades and helped create pathways for countless young Senegalese footballers.
A tribute with substance and, thankfully, plenty of flavour too.
