Rooted in History 🌲

Peñarol’s latest third kit takes a different route to telling the club’s story, pulling inspiration from railway heritage, migration and the origins behind the club’s very name.

At first glance, the zig-zag pattern immediately stands out. Look closer though and the design reveals layered silhouettes of pine trees woven throughout the fabric, referencing Pinerolo in Italy, the hometown linked to the club’s founder and the Italian railway workers who helped shape Peñarol’s early identity after arriving in Uruguay.

The colour palette follows the same historical thread. Deep green reflects the pine forests tied to that heritage, while black references the coal that powered the locomotives central to the railway industry. Gold completes the trio, honouring the trains themselves and the role they played in building both industry and community.

Visually, the combination lands extremely well. The gold detailing cuts sharply through the darker tones, while the repeated forest pattern gives the shirt movement without taking away from the overall structure of the design.

It is a kit built around heritage, but one that avoids feeling overly nostalgic. The references are clear, the visuals are strong and everything within the palette has a reason for being there.
