A marriage made in Lens.
Red and yellow are inseparable from RC Lens, and for their latest third shirt the club have taken that relationship rather literally.
They’re getting married.

Lens have turned the launch into a mock wedding, celebrating the union of two colours that immediately bring the club to mind.
The shirt itself plays heavily on that identity.
A predominantly dark base allows the famous Sang et Or combination to take centre stage through a bold sash running across the shirt. Red meets yellow, with a further diagonal treatment within the sash adding a little more movement to what is an instantly recognisable piece of Lens.
It’s a good example of how a club can continue working with the same established colours without simply recreating the same shirt every season.

Yet it’s the launch that will probably get people talking.
Football shirt reveals have become increasingly elaborate. We’ve seen clubs head underwater, take over unusual locations, create short films and produce campaigns that wouldn’t look out of place in the fashion industry.
Lens have now thrown a wedding.
It certainly beats standing a player in front of a wall and asking them to cross their arms.

With so many shirts released every season, perhaps clubs increasingly need these concepts simply to get noticed. Then again, there must be a point where the launch becomes a bigger story than the shirt itself.
What’s the most outlandish football kit launch you’ve ever seen?
And how far is too far?
