Sometimes the biggest statement you can make with a football shirt is simply choosing the right colour.

For Salford City, orange is back and they’re making absolutely sure everyone knows it.

Following the club’s latest rebrand, Salford have returned to a colour with historic connections to the club. The lion remains front and centre within the new identity, accompanied by the Salford Rose, and the home shirt provides the perfect opportunity to introduce it all.

There’s no elaborate pattern or hidden reference required here.

It’s orange. Very orange.

When you’re attempting to establish a refreshed identity, colour is arguably the most immediate tool available. Salford haven’t buried their new direction underneath an overly complicated design. The shirt is kept remarkably clean and allows that bold orange to dominate.

Paint it bright, paint it proud, paint it orange.

There’s another interesting part to Salford’s story, of course.

With David Beckham and Gary Neville among the famous former professionals associated with the club, Salford remain a fascinating example of what happens when some of football’s biggest names become involved much further down the pyramid.

Their profile brings attention that clubs at this level wouldn’t ordinarily receive, but it also brings expectations.

Do you like seeing famous former players getting involved with lower-league clubs?

Can their profile, contacts and experience help smaller clubs build something bigger, or would you rather see clubs remain completely rooted in local ownership and influence?

Whatever your view, Salford certainly aren’t being quiet about this particular chapter.

A look backwards has helped shape their way forward.

Orange is back.
