Few cities can boast a setting quite like Marseille.
Rugged cliffs, picturesque coves and the endless blue of the Mediterranean have long shaped the city’s identity, so it’s no surprise to see Olympique de Marseille drawing inspiration from their surroundings for this new away kit.

Dubbed a tribute to the “Heart of the Mediterranean”, the shirt fully embraces the waters that lap against the city’s shores.
The result is a striking visual.
A closer look reveals shimmering wave patterns that fade in and out across the shirt, creating a sense of movement, almost as if the water itself is rippling across the fabric. The transition between the darker and lighter shades of blue only adds to that effect.

The details help tie it all together too.
The deeper blue used on the collar and cuffs frames the shirt nicely, while the faint touch of gold around the badge provides just enough contrast without distracting from the ocean-inspired design.
It’s also an interesting departure from Marseille’s crisp and clean home shirt, giving the club’s collection a completely different feel.

The question, perhaps, is whether football kits work best when they lean into local geography and identity like this.
Could you tell this was inspired by the Mediterranean without being told? Probably.

And that’s often a sign that the design has done its job.
A shirt that captures the colours and movement of the coast and might just leave a few people wanting to book a trip to Marseille.
